Charlotte Airport

I know Charlotte is not a huge airport. Would it be possible to make a US Airways connection in 40 minutes? I wasn't sure what the "rules" were re: airlines ticketing short connection times. Never had one that close before. I guess my concern would be if we are delayed in anyway for even 15 minutes we'd miss the connecting flight. Thanks.

CLT is a pretty easy airport to navigate. If connecting from one US AIR flight to the other (both domestic), 40 minutes is possible, but may be pushing it if delayed or if you're flying out of the end of the international terminal. Are you on an early morning flight? If so, you're less likely to be delayed and 40 minutes should be ok. Later in the day, you may want more time between landing and departure.

CLT isn't exactly a dinky airport, either. There can be a fairly long stretchbetween one cocourse and another but I'm not sure where you are getting the info that 15 minutes late arrival means missing a connection. After all, that connection could end up leaving from the next gate over.

Yes, possibly one gate over. Thank heavens that happened one time for us in STL because we were really late!
"possible" yes, comfortable not really. What airline. That will make the difference possibly. I disagree that it is easy with USAir. If it is USAir it could leave from almost any of the concourses. If it is Continental, et al, they tend to be gathered together and it should be fine.
Also, if it is a commuter flight connecting to a commuter, that is generally just one concourse so easier.
It's a hike from A to D!!

Thanks for the replies. It would arrive CLT at 10:49a.m. Depart 11:35a.m. US Airways and International. I just think I'd worry myself silly over every little minute!

The last time I connected through Charlotte (at 9pm on a Saturday), I noticed lots of golf carts -- far more than I've noticed elsewhere-- available for passengers needing a lift. You could flag one if you have to get quickly from one concourse to another.

If you are connecting to an international flight Iwould not do it. And yes, there are a lot of carts--try to get them to take you. You can arrange for it, and if you continue with this connection arrange for a cart to meet you and take you. NO Foolin'.
