Charleston vs. Savannah
Where is nice to visit ans stay for three days ? Any recommendation on places to stay at either ?

To me, Savannah is more antebellum, more regal, and more quiet than Charleston. It's a city designed (literally) for strolling around. We stayed at the Bed & Breakfast Inn and enjoyed it very much. Also, if you choose Savannah, don't forget to stop at Mrs. Wilkes for lunch. <BR>

The squares/layout of Savannah is nice, but I prefer Charleston. Its historic district seems larger and more intact. The gardens are very nice and I like the market. I can't recommend places to stay--I usually opt for a chain motel on the north side of the city and drive in.

I went over christmas last year to both Savannah and Charleston for 7 days. I loved Charleston! Because it wasn't ravaged by fire during the Civil War, it's historic district is larger and better maintained. Go on a tour with Ready, Set, Tour! The tour guide Tommy is the best! We stayed at the Hampton Inn - Historic District. It was beautiful and you could easily walk to any spot in town. Savannah had that not so pleasant odor of paper mill. In Savannah, we stayed at a quaint B&B called The Planters Inn. Make sure to check out the old cemetaries in each city.

I liked both. Check out web sites and see which interests you the most. They both have areas with wonderful Live Oak trees dripping in Spanish Moss. Savannah's waterfront area is kind of touristy and hokey, but it's also fun. I'd opt for a B&B in an historic district.
