Charleston SC with Kids- accomodations help needed
 

Hi-
When I was little we vacationed in Charleston, South Carolina, every 3 or 4 years or so, and always stayed in neat B&Bs. Now it seems that B&Bs are less welcoming of little people than they were. I'm having trouble finding one that will accept reservations for my family of 4- ages 37, 35, 4, and 2. All area well-behaved (except for the 37 year old, and I'm working on that). Any suggestions? I really wanted to visit the Battery Carriage House since that was the site of my young Charleston experience, but they don't allow guests younger than 12. I guess that means the joggling board is history! (pun intended)
We are looking for a 2 BR suite, or adjoining rooms, in the historic district for the first weekend in November. We have visited Wild Dunes before, and wanted to stay in downtown this time.

Sorry cannot help with your actual question but if you continue to have bad luck, why not look into rentin something at Folley Beach.

I just suggest it because you said you have already stayed on Wild Dunes and Folley is only a 10 minute drive to town.

We have stayed many time with our girls since they were babies, currently 5 and 3. It is a little kitchy town with some good restaurants and tourist shops, and as stated before it is very easy to get into town.

I prefer Seabrook, since I grew up there but it is not as little kid-friendly nor close to town. Good luck!

Have you tried the Andrew Pinckney Inn? We stayed there in the spring of 2005 in one of their "townhouse" suites. It is a smaller inn, so it has more of a B&B feel to it and offers a free breakfast each morning. The location is good, right at the end of Church St., about two blocks from the Market. The suite we stayed in was two stories, with a bedroom and full bath upstairs and a sofabed and half bath downstairs, as well as a kitchen area (refrigerator/microwave/sink), which might come in handy with little ones. They are also one of the more reasonably priced places in the historic district.

www.meetingstreetsuites.com might be perfect for you. One of their suites has a king and two twin beds... kitchen ect.. I know it would work for my family and hoping to make use of it soon... looks like its location can't be beat. Good luck.

Ditto with the Andrew Pinckney Inn and one of the townhouses. Accommodations also include a lovely breakfast.

I don't think it's the B&Bs that don't want your kids, it is the other guests. If the B&Bs were losing business from not allowing kids, they would stop the practice.
