Charleston SC Walking Tour
 

Visiting Charleston for the first time. The guided walking tours sound just right. Any experience?

I have not done the walking tour, but I have done the mini bus tours, and would highly recommend them. The mini busses from several different tour companies line up behind the Visitors Center. The tours are great and give you a fabulous overview of things to see and provide you with tons of interesting facts. For most, you also have a stop and stretch stop at the Battery, which is spectacular.

Did a walking tour of Charleston a few years ago with Fern Williams Tuten. It was very interesting; always a good sign when the guide is a native. Here's her website:

I'm a native and recently took some friends on a walking tour with Charleston Walks (www.charlestonwalks.com) and it was great...we did the overview tour but I've heard their Civil War tour is fabulous as well.

I did several walking tours w/ Charleston Walks several yrs ago-ghost tour, Civil War tour, Charleston overview tour. I highly recommend them all!

I took my mother to Charleston 2 years ago to celebrate her B-day and the conciege recommended Ed Girabaldi's (sp?)walking tour. He is a 5th generation Charlestonian and had some great stories. If my memory serves me correctly, the tour was over 2 hours long, but extremely interesting. Wear very comfortable shoes. You walk on pavement and cobblestones. And while you are in Charleston, you have to go to The Market...much fun. There is also great dining in Charleston. We were there in early Nov and took the pedicabs every night. There is a restaurant just across from the tourist center on John or Jean St that serves a fabulous Creme Brulee. The lunch was quite good as well.
