If you stay at the King Charles, they have a place to park your rental car. Parking can be a problem, so thought I'd pass this on.

Thanks!

I'm staying at King Charles...do you know if it's free parking?

suewoo May 19th, 2011 10:10 AM

Yes. It's the only one with free parking. Taxis will be more than the coast of a rental. Enterprise will deliver a car to your hotel.

Yes you will need a car to visit the beaches.

Stay at Vendue...they have nice roof top bar....Sullivans island is best beach....go to Poes Tavern. Prob cheaper to rent car than use Taxi. Get taxi from airport and keep for 3 days. Best restaurants.....Fig, CruCafe, Halls Chophouse, hominy grill for breakfast, magnolias for lunch. Too hot for carriage ride....go to visitors center on meeting st and take tour on open bus. If I only had 3 days I may skip plantation unless you are really into that. Hope this helps. I live here....if u have anymore questions.

Thanks Jynx!
Can you tell me what type of the food is the restaurants you named?

suewoo May 20th, 2011 12:21 PM

chgeeb,
You can google all those restaurants and see their menus. FIG changes regularly as they serve what's local and fresh.

If you want to relocate, I would rent a car from the airport. It's not a big area, but you'll want to explore. Hotels downtown are many, Best Western King Charles is right in the heart. I really enjoyed my visit more after I took a tour of the old town. Just 10 days ago it was HOT! Beware of Summer! The tour I took was http://www.CharlestonPhotoTours.com and it really made it special. Good luck.

We love Charleston and the surrounding area. In fact, we spend 3 months on IOP every winter. As a visitor/tourist you will be welcomed with open arms. SIL and family moved to Charleston from "The North". As permanent residents they have found it a tough adjustment. Consider many factors when relocating.
Enjoy your stay. It is a wonderful place to visit.
