Suewoo, do you know the name of the new place on Shem Creek?
|
Go to Vickery's on Shem Creek for cocktails at sunset. Lovely views, nice spae, good drinks.
__ I second this recommendation. |
It would be nice if I could type!
cmfong, it's Table and Tavern. It's where the Trawler used to be. Some fool was going to turn it into a condo-tel. He got run out when he requested the town move the shrimp boats due to their unsightliness. O_o. |
iceeu2, Yes, one and the same. I thought your name seemed familiar! Good to say hello again, and please say hi to your husband and the Budmans for us. And, now I do remember the second "lunch" at Liberty as well--great fun.
If I think of anything else for your Charleston weekend, I'll be sure to pass it along. In the meantime, High Cotton and the new place on Shem Creek sound perfect for your plans. We've never attended any SEWE events, so can't help with that. |
Donna, going back to Kauai next Feb with family. By the way, Magnolia was one of the best meals we have ever had. The app was some panseared scallops that actually had us using bread to clean up the juices.

Carpetbaggers still exist!! LOL |
There are so many really good restaurants here that we even have difficulty choosing each week-end. We have dined in almost every restaurant here so I will give you our favorites.
Love-- Trattoria Lucca, Obstinate Daughter, Wild Olive, Fat Hen, Mactintosh Lunch- Cru, SNOB, Reds on Shem Creek for atmosphere Best hamburger and chicken wings- Rutledge Cab Happy hour- Pearlz I would definitely switch High Cotton and Magnolia for Cypress for the best Sashimi Tuna Oysters you will ever eat along with brie salad. Craig Deihl has recently opened a charcuterie store/sandwich shop on Spring Street that we haven't tried~sounds like that would be a fun place to try for lunch. Enjoy and hopefully we will warm up a bit before you arrive. |
GOT to ask--describe the sashimi tuna oysters!! I get all the ingredients--all raw? Sauce?
We're headed to the beach next week and may get down to Charleston for a meal. Thanks. |
Yes with a cilantro lime glaze and pineapple wasabi.
|
Fig and Magnolia are two of my favorites as well. The Mezz has nice jazz. Sermets is nice to sit at a table by the window.
|
I was in Charleston a few weeks ago, and we spontaneously went to an improv show at Theater 99. It was pretty funny and a nice change in pace for something to do if you are in Charleston for the wknd and looking to mix it up.
|
Ummm, I see you did mention you were going to "some show with all kinds of chefs and wildlife". Wow
http://sewe.com/ I hope you have reservations every night now--it's sort of a "biggy" for Charleston. We are at the beach up the coast and was thinking about running down for dinner, but I think the crowds will keep us right here looking out at the ocean! |
Tonight is Cypress, Friday night is FIG and Saturday night is High Cotton.......now where for Sunday Brunch?
We are on the way......suewoo or Gretchen,etal......if we stop in Georgetown for lunch which place? Excited! |
Hi iceeu2, You might try Leaf on Beaufain St. They have a great Sunday brunch. We ate there recently and it was very good!
|
Go south of Georgetown on 17 and eat at SeWee--it is on the right in an old store.
DH got the Charleston paper today and a 40 page section about SEWE and all the events and places. It is daunting--but you will want the paper. Maybe get it in Georgetown--which IS worth a drive through for Revolutionary War era homes. And there is good eating on the waterfront there if you don't want to go on. HOWEVER, if you are coming through Pawley's Island (are you flying into MB?), lunch at the Chive Blossom would be DEEElicious. It is just to the left at the turn off to go across the causeway to the beach at Pawley's Island. Really really good. The historic district of the beach at PI is also worth a drive through. There are a number of cooking classes at Southern Season in Mt. Pleasant that may be of interest. Didn't know SS was there--a great store in Chapel Hill. |
Definitely have brunch at Obstinate Daughter or Fat Hen!
