Charleston - Savannah Weather
We are planning a trip to the Charleston/Savannah area soon. We want to avoid hot weather and humidity. Would January be a good month to visit?
|
Yes, but it isn't the "nicest" time to visit. I'd come in April when the azaleas and dogwood are in bloom. I'd go in October/November when the sky iand the beaches are so beautiful. There is a way to balance things, IMO.

April would be my choice. Both cities, beautiful in their own right, are absolutely spectacular in full bloom. It’s a very popular time to go, so I’d advise reserving early. |
I love Charleston in the winter. I spent a few Christmases there and it was great and less crowded than spring. I went to Savannah and Charleston this past March and it was a great time to go as well. IME, April the weather is great...the crowds not so much (but I'm not a fan of crowds).

Thanks, OO, for info.

I went to Charleston and Savannah around New Years. Like an earlier poster, I enjoyed going there that time of year. I can’t compare the busy-ness to April as I’m never able to get away then. One day was sweater weather, mostly fall jacket and sweater weather although I remember pulling out my parka! Not beach weather, although I’m possibly weird that I like strolling on the beach when it’s cooler. This said, being a Canadian, it was largely comfortable weather for walking around. |
