Charleston restaurant selections
 

For my trip to Charleston this weekend, I have the following restaurants reserved:
Dinner at Magnolia's
Dinner at High Cotton
Lunch at SNOB
Brunch at Blossom

I know that SNOB and High Cotton are owned by the same company, as are Magnolia's and Blossom. Do you think there is enough variety in my choices that we will not be eating practically the same thing at each place? I was also looking at Cru Cafe and Fish as alternatives...

I would probably pick a seafood restaurant to get more of a balance of what Charleston offers, although you can get seafood at the ones you mentioned (shrimp and grits being a must in my opinion). The Boathouse is good, and there is a nice ambience at the large restaurants over at Shem Creek. Hyman's also has pretty good food, even if many say it is too touristy and crowded.

Skip dinner at Magnolia's and substitute Penninsula Grille.

Skip Brunch at Blossom and substitute brunch at Poogan's Porch.

Is SNOB open for lunch? Definitely eat there and I love High Cotton also.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up cancelling High Cotton for Sun night and reserving the Peninsula Grill (the menu sounds great!). The trouble with Sat night is that many restaurants do not begin service until 5:30pm and we have a walking tour that begins at 7:00pm. Maybe we'll try the Boathouse or Cru Cafe for 5pm.

Jestine's Kitchen opens around noon on Sunday and has wonderful food. I am personally partial to the fried chicken. Yum.

82 Queen St. is wonderful, and with indoor or charming outdoor garden patio seating. Best restaurant we found in Charlaston.

I agree with GoTravel about skipping Magnolia's and substitute Penninsula Grille as well as skipping Blossom's and substitute brunch at Poogan's Porch.

SNOB is open for lunch and it's quite tasty.

As dan_woodlief suggested, I would add in a seafood restaurant to the mix and my personal favorite is Hank's on Hayne Street (right off the Market) and they start serving dinner at 5 on Saturdays so that should work with your walking tour.

One word of caution about Peninsula Grill. The last two times I've dined there the food has been wonderful, but the noise level in the restaurant when we arrived (around 8 PM on a Saturday) was equivalent to a 747 beginning its run at JFK.
