Charleston restaurant rec?

I'm looking for a not crazy expensive but not cheap restaurant for a final dinner in Charleston. I've heard of Husk and Fig, but I'm not a big fan of heavy/Southern food. Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Oh, Joe, Joe, Joe. Just because it's the South doesn't mean it has to be heavy, lol! Both of those are great and will have options you'll enjoy. Those 2 chefs would get the vapors if they knew you thought they were preparing heavy stuff! I'll also throw in Anson (nice catfish), High Cotton, SNOB, and maybe Fish. Take a look at the website menus (they vary, of course) and see what you think.

Thanks, Sue. I booked at Fish, as everything else was all full (though I e-mailed Anson to ask as well). Hopefully I can also take advantage of Restaurant Week!

You should also consider eating at the bar. You won't need a reservation for that and the bar at Husk is interesting. The bar at McCrady's is also memorable. If a place you like is booked, call and talk to them. Restaurant week is really busy.

suewoo- for near-future rec's like this; Is FIG under renov?

My family and I enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service at SNOB......

chs29445,

They closed for a week but re-opened on Monday. It continues to be one of my favorite places, but they don't participate in restaurant week.

I've been going to places that I haven't been in a (long)while or are new to me. I've been to McCrady's, Tristan, and Anson. I need a nap, lol.

We liked Blossoms best of all and it fits your description of what you are looking for. Magnolia was nice too.

Okay, thanks. Right now I have Blossoms and Anson booked and will think about how to distinguish. I wasn't really a fan of Anson's RM as much as Blossoms ...

Have a great time!

It's not downtown Charleston, but on our last two visits we went to Wild Olive on John's Island and had FANTASTIC meals! The potatoes with parmesan, scallions and truffle oil are spectacular. We also love SNOB.

"Heavy/southern" food. Hmmmmm. I'm not sure I'd associate that term with any place in Charleston!! Hilarious.
Maybe "heavy/Chicago" food will come soon.
