I've never had a great view from Charleston Place , but I've never stayed on the Club level either. The view is decent (up and down King street, though) It's a really nice hotel, and if being able to walk straight out the door to all the Historic Dist. points of interest means any thing to you, then I would stay there. Charleston is not the easiest place in the world to park, plus if you want to enjoy...say...McCrady's Wine Bar...you might appreciate not having to get in the car to go back to your hotel.
I'm curious how much less the non-club rooms were. My friend and I scored a key to the Club level from a friendly bellman. We really didn't make very good use of it though...there's so much to eat in Charleston that I hated to waste stomach room on hotel food, even if it is good-hotel-food and free. I think the free Wall STreet Journal was the best thing.

I would recommend Charleston Place over Habourview due to location. Charleston Place is within easier walking distance to many restaurants and shops. I would not worry about a view in Charleston since you will not be in your room as much. Your view from Charleston Place will just be of downtown Charleston, which is pretty but not amazing. Also, please remember that Charleston does not allow high rises so you are not going to be getting s skyscraper view of downtown.

Charleston Place is a nice hotel, but not one of the top 10 in the world, and probably not even one of the top 10 in the south. It's a Mobil 4*, though, an excellent rating.
We've stayed on the Club level, but I have no recollection of any view at all and it's in an area where your view most likely will be something across the street at best anyway! That said, it's a terrific hotel and I'd stay there again, no hesitation, wouldn't even look elsewhere. Location is unbeatable, very pretty traditional style, great service.

I just returned from Charleston Place and had a room on Club Level and it was very nice, although our view was not notable. I think it was a beautiful hotel and the two restaurants in the hotel were some of the best experiences of our entire vacation...The club level was really very nice and had very ample offerings and great concierge staff. We will absolutely return our next visit. Hope this helps...

I would pick Charleston Place hands down. Harbor view is on the Harbor, but right across the street is a 7 story port building that blocks the view from some of the rooms. Charleston Place to harbor down market street is about a 4 block walk. It's also more centrally located to everything else in town, which is a plus. If the club level is on the higher floors you may still luck into a water view- there aren't many buildings in Chas. that are taller than Charleston Place.
