Charleston in Early March

My daughter is playing in a softball tourney at Charleston Southern University in No. Charleston first weekend (early arrival thurs - early departure sunday)in March. My sister and I are traveling to watch but of course want to take advantage of being in Charleston so are considering staying at the Doubletree and traveling back and forth to the games. It looks to be about a 20 minute drive in and out. We unfortunately have a very early flight Sunday morning. Is it an easy airport to get in and out of? Is the ride into Charleston and parking relatively easy around that time? Thanks for any help/dinner recommendations you may have for our short stay.

The Doubletree has valet parking that couldn't be any easier than it is.

The airport is in North Charleston and it is very easy to get there from downtown.

The Doubletree is one of my favorite Charleston hotels. The location is excellent.

Can you change your flight to a later time? Sunday Brunch in Charleston is one of my favorite things.

Do a word search on GoTravel's screenname and you will find her excellent trip report. Charleston is a fabulous city and her report will help you make the most of your free time. I hope your daughter's team does well in the tourney.

Thank you for the quick responses. I wish i could change the flight but it was a freebie with my miles!

wfde, as your dates get closer, the airlines will release more ff miles seats.

I always make my ff reservations and as the dates get nearer, I am always able to get the flights I really want!

go travel, thanks for that tip! I didn't know that but will certainly try as the time gets closer.

My Mom, sister and I flew in and rented a car and drove into Charleston and out to sights w/o any problems. It was very easy driving IMHO. We do live in the Minneapolis metro area, so we have city driving experience...but Charleston was much easier to drive in. My favorite spots were the Drayton Hall Plantation, strolling along the Battery, the Old Market and the great restaurants. We also explored the Citadel a little bit. It is a great destination!!
