Charleston hotel question

We are going to Charleston in June for 3 days. We would like to stay at a nice hotel in the historic district with a pool and rooms with a balcony. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, are there any hotels in the historic district that are within walking distance to a beach? Someone told my friend there was but could not remember the name of it.

Hi, Charleston is on the water but there are no beachs in downtown Charleston. You can walk to a waterfront park from the historic district. Kathy

The only hotels within walking distance of the beach are on Isle of Palms or Folly Beach. Market Pavilion hotel has a great rooftop pool and bar in the historic district.

I was wondering if the Market Pavilion would acceptable for kids. I like very nice accommodations, but also do not like feeling out of place.

I've seen children there, but not very many. The Lodge Alley Inn is also very nice and the Mills House and I've seen lots of children at both places.

charleston place hotel is right in the middle of things and has a very nice rooftop- pool along with a glass- roof that can be opened on those lovely mild days and evenings.
it is one of the better hotels, but kids are not frowned upon. i stayed there as a kid with my parents a couple of years ago (at that time the hotel was still an OMNI), and certainly did not feel out of place.
i have stayed there again and wouldn't hestitate to do so in the future!
enjoy your trip!
