Charleston-Hotel & NYE ??
We are thinking of going to Charleston, SC after Christmas to celebrate our anniversary (which is NYE). I have two questions:
1) We were all set to book at the Market Pavilion (GoTravel-thanks so much for your awesome trip report!!), but then yesterday I noticed that the Harbourview Inn has rooms for $178 on Priceline's retail site. Is this too good to be true?
Normal rates for this hotel seem to be at least twice as much, and reviews of this hotel are great so I am thinking I should book quickly before this rate disapears. But, I have never purchased from Priceline (this is would be a direct purchase, not a bid)..any catch other than what is stated in their cancellation policy?
2) Is Charleston crazy on New Years Eve? We were in New York last year so are looking for something more low key this year. Would probably just want to do a nice dinner, but will the area be packed with people? If so, our dates are flexible as we would be driving.
Thanks!

What is the price difference between the two hotels?
$178 is a great rate for the Harborview and the view from the lobby is just gorgeous.
I'd go with the cheaper rate and spend the extra money shopping on King Street.
NYE will be fun downtown. Weather should be mild.

Harbourview is $400/night and Market Pavilion is average of $300/night for those dates on the direct hotel sites, as well as Expedia, etc. Don't think I can beat $178 from Priceline, esp. since that's a lot of extra shopping money
Thanks for the input!
