Charleston Hotel Help

I am planning a reunion with 6-8 other couples (no kids!) for a long weekend in June 2008. We are a fun, gregarious bunch. Would like to find a hotel that has charm, possibly a rooftop bar or close to a hotel that has one, and isnt more than $300 per night (though maybe we could get group rate). Any suggestions? Have heard of Vendue Inn but only for rooftop bar and not as to whether it is a good hotel. Thanks in advance!

MarketPlace Pavillion has a very nice bar, gorgeous view and lovely rooms. Check it out.

Have a blast!

I did some digging, and found the following that might be of interest:

Andrew Pinckney Inn
40 Pinckney St
http://www.resideo.com/us/southcarol...43403646.hotel
- has a rooftop terrace overlooking historic homes, the harbor, etc. Just look at the pics, this place looks really charming and unique!

HarbourView Inn
2 Vendue Range
http://www.resideo.com/us/southcarol...92339553.hotel
- rooftop terrace offers great views

Market Pavilion Hotel
225 East Bay Street
http://www.resideo.com/us/southcarol...25251193.hotel
- from their own write-up: "The Pavilion Level hotel rooftop affords both city and harbor views, featuring a sundeck with lounge chairs during the day, an appetizer and cocktail bar with tables decked with twinkling lights after dark, and an infinity-edged, heated pool for both daytime and evening dips."

Hope that helps!

I have stayed at the Andrew Pinkney twice--the last time we had a very small room, but it was only for one night. The rooftop terrace is only used for breakfast service (and doesn't get the afternoon breeze). We always go to the Market Pavilion for an afternoon cool-down drink, catch the breeze and snack (great prime rib quesadillas).

I think I have narrowed it down to Vendue, Market Pavilion or French Quarter Inn... I think we need a place with a nice bar but that also has nice, old-world charm rooms that arent cookie cutter. Still taking opinions and many thanks to those who have already weighed in!

The Market Pavilion is a fabulous hotel. The rooms are very nice but it is expensive. If all in the group are comfortable with the rate, that would be my recommendation. Also, you have the rooftop bar, plus the rooftop pool. Not many downtown hotels have the option of a swimming pool.

I spent 4 days in Charleston last March. Friends were in the citty for a wedding-I had the opportunity to visit and see other hotels. I stayed at Marketplace Pavillon. Service is exceptional-small boutique style hotel-more European. Charleston Place ia another option-right up the street. Huge-gorgeous-rooms are very nice. Try Concierge level for 24/7 food and bar!
UYou could eat all your meals at the buffet (not that you would want to...but-it is an option).

LOVE Chareston-such a great city.
