Charleston flights

Help. Why can't I find a flight under 300.00 to Charleston, SC from Providence, RI or Boston, MA??

Anyone have an idea on where to find a normal priced flight for such a short trip?

Thanks,
Nathan

You can try bidding on it on Priceline. It is expensive because it is a small place serviced by regional carriers. It isn't all that short a haul either.

Flying into Charleston is never cheap! There is no competitive airline here - many of my friends will fly into Myrtle Beach where several discount airlines fly to. It's about 1-1/2 hours to drive to Charleston from Myrtle Beach airport.

Just returned from Charleston S.C. yesterday. We got our tickets at Orbitz.com. We paid less than $250 each from Grand Rapids, MI. on Delta.
We had a great time too! Loved it.

$300-400 is a normal priced flight for that market. There are not a lot of options because a limited number of carriers service and there isn't a high demand. If you can be a little flexible, I got $266 last week from Dallas, TX with 7 days notice on Hotwire. Also, try flying into Myrtle Beach, about 2 hrs away and much better rates including package deals. Some are so good you can throw away the hotel voucher and still come out ahead. With notice you might also come out ahead to fly to Columbia and drive to Charleston. Good luck!
