Charleston-Doubletree or Embassy?

Hello Dec. takes us to historic downtown Charleston for the first time. Really look forward to it. we have a 15 y old daughter and we're her 50ish parents who like to walk/walk and be close to everything. Husband 'allergic" to BandB - likes suite hotels-am I missing any?which would you use? Thanks sooo much.

I loved walking around Charleston 3 yrs ago in December with my then almost-15 yr olds daughter. We both loved it.
I don't know the particular hotels you mention, but would DEFINTELY recommend staying within the historical part of Charleston. We stayed at a suite hotel across the river and said if ever there again, we'd be sure to stay IN Charleston itself not on the outskirts. Maybe check Tripadvisor.com for reviews.

The location of the Doubletree is far superior to the location of the Embassy. You can walk to all dining, attractions, and shopping from the Doubletree but not the Embassy.

I second the idea of staying at the Doubletree. I love this hotel and now stay there each time we visit Charleston. The location is fantastic.

We stayed at Embassy but you're right about Doubletree location. Enjoyed our visit a lot. Walked a lot. And got to do Upper King St- close to Embassy Suites.
