Charleston dinner ideas
 

My husband and I are in our 30s and going to Charleston for Memorial Day weekend. Had researched some restaurants and we were thinking of doing fig and magnolias for dinner and maybe butcher and bee for an early dinner right before we leave. How are these choices ? I am vegetarian and we like restaurants with good food obviously and fun atmospheres. Do these fit the criteria ? Any other suggestions ?

We picked hominy grill, high cotton and maybe poogans porch for brunch (depends when we get there ). Any other must visit places ?

There are probably a jillion or so threads on Charleston here. LOL But I think there are many new "maybe better" restaurants in Charleston now. To me you've chosen the "top of" list from 15 years ago--and we surely did love them then. ;o)
We ate at Tratorria Lucca and had the best Italian meal in a stunning setting this side of Italy. The Ordinary gets great reviews.. Husk also, although our foodie/restaurant owning children were less than impressed the night they were there (recognizing that ANY place can have a bad night).
BUT googling gave me this site which is really really wonderful--can't wait to try some. Bowen's Island won a big prize a couple of years ago--maybe best of the South in Bon Appetit? Our kids LOVE Xio Bao Biscuit.

Needless to say, make reservations.

Ok yea Fig looks great but maybe a little too fancy and old school? I am vegetarian so some of the options don't work but do you have any thoughts on Pawpaw or Le Farfalle? I did have Trattoria Lucca down but also not many veggie options.

Farfalle looks lovely. Fast and French has some dishes also.
AND you can always ask for the chef's special vegetarian item.

I would certainly take a chance. We can't wait to delve into that list.
