Charleston & Savannah Lodging

3 ladies heading to Charleston and Savannah in early May. Any sugggstions for VRBO type lodging? Would like to stay under $250/night.

For that you might not need VRBO. Several here have suggested the Indigo Inn. French Quarter.

Stay away from the Old Savannah Inn. Trust me on this one.

In Savannah, my husband and I stayed at the Staybridge Suites in old town near the water. The price was very good and I believe they have multi-bedroom suites. Also breakfast is included in the price. This was a few years ago, so you may want to check out their prices now.

Another huge recommendation. We really enjoyed our stay there.

If you are wanting to use VRBO your best bet is to stay on Tybee Island & get a condo. That actually puts you on the coast & it's a short drive into Savannah. It's been a couple of years since we've been, but in my experience the condos were very reasonable. You could get a hotel in the riverfront/historic section for 250 a night. We recently stayed at the Hyatt in that section & it was so convenient to everything. This would actually be your best bet to avoid driving & trying to find parking.

I second staying downtown rather than on Tybee. Savannah is a very romantic city, especially at nite, and it's lots of fun just to walk through the squares away from the River and look at the houses.
