Charleston

We will be going to Charleston next week. Looking for "must do's". I have never been their this time of year. We will spend lots of time antique shopping, clothes shopping etc. Love Penn Grill. What other things/ restaurants would anyone suggest? We will have a car. Beaufort this time of yeat?
Thank you!

Hello Ferragamo (love your name!).

If you go to Fodor's search box and either type in Charleston or GoTravel you will be able to read a very excellent and interesting long report that GoTravel posted a few weeks ago. I think it will answer every question you have, and maybe even some you did not know you had.

Wonderful restaurant is 82 Queen St.
Heart of the historical district.

Definitely do a side trip to Beaufort. This is the perfect time of year. Park your car in the historical district and walk everywhere. Beautiful homes, gorgeous waterfront, interesting art and antique shops. Worth the trip.
I also second the counsel to review the excellent trip report just filed by GoTravel. She is a fantastic resource on this wonderful area.

I've given this advice before--There are mini-bus tours of the city that are really wonderful. The busses are located behind the visitors center (which also is a wonderful place).
We passed up the opportunity to go on these busses several times, then, on advice from a few Fodorites, we went. It was wonderful and I'd do it again.
