California Dreaming Restaurant. It's right on the water and has wonderful food. Make sure to take the carriage tour in the historic district.

Evelyn--
In OCt there are the homes tours in the Battery---the restored section -- and they are fabulous- you buy a tkt to see a few home on a particular street==

Also take the Carriage ride thru the battery--

Walk thru the Slave Market- full of little shops

Lunch-- BLOSSOMS- awesome food

Dinner- Anson's--to die for -eat downstairs
I'll have to disagree with the suggestion to eat at California Dreaming. Nice view but come on, it's just an Applebee's with a decent view of the harbor. And Applebee's probably has better food. Poogan's Porch is OK, especially if you can corral a seat on the porch.

Skip California Dreaming. Evelyn, you will want to stay downtown near the market. You can either taxi it in from the airport or if you are driving in, park your car for your entire stay. For good eats, check out Slightly North of Broad or SNOB.

Take a carriage tour or an individual walking tour if you have only one day. Eat at Slightly North of Broad, Magnolia Grill, Peninsula, Charleston Grill. NOT Hyman's. Or go across the bridge to Mt. Pleasant and eat along Shem Creek.

Just got back from Charleston - what a delightful city ! We had excellent dinners at Anson's, S.N.O.B., Charleston Grill and Magnolia's (the last had least in atmosphere etc, but the food was good). I'd suggest lunch in the courtyard of 82 Queen St.
Too bad you only have one day !

Carriage ride with the Old South Company; Lunch @Blossom's, Slightly North of Broad, Magnolia's ( all owned by the most incredible chef's) and walking the Battery. If you are interest in art, walk Queen Street and Church Street for great galleries by talented local artists. Enjoy!
