Changing Flight Advice Needed...
I need some advice. Friends have bought us plane tickets as a gift to come visit their new home in St. Maarten. I assume they bought us the cheapest tickets, because we have an 11 hour layover on the way over, and 12 hours on the way back, both overnight. Is there any ways to change tickets around with out paying a fortune? If you get to the airport early, will they allow you to go on standby for other flights? I don't mind spending 100 to change ticket, but that mya be turned into 400 if I had to switch 4 different flights...

Instead of spending $100 to change tickets, why not just spend that money on an airport hotel and enjoy the overnight layover? You'll be very relaxed when you arrive.

They may be the only tickets available. So, anyway, how do we know. Why don't you call the airline and get CORRECT information.

The $100 fee is usually per roundtrip, not per leg. So if there are two of you flying it will be a minimum of $200 plus the difference in flight costs.

Maybe your friends want you to have the layover. Perhaps they prefer you arrive when you are scheduled to arrive. What would they say if you arrived outside your scheduled time?
