Change to Turtle Bay Resort?
 

My family has reservations for 4 nights at the JW Marriott on Oahu and 4 nights at the Halekulani. I am getting scared off of the
Halekulani due to some bad posts on Trip Advisor lately. I was thinking of switching to the Turtle Bay - but not sure about that one either. Any words of wisdom from recent visitors? Thank you.

Turtle Bay is away from many of the main attractions but is a self contained resort....you need to determine whether you want to use the resort as a room to sleep in to see the sights or as a full vacation experience... once you decide which it is, you can make the wise choice...

for my family, we preferred a hotel in a busier location so it wasn't as long a drive to sights, restaurants, and the broader Hawaiian culture...

As garyt22 said, you're comparing apples and oranges. Turtle Bay is a lovely resort, but it's way up on the North Shore, while the Halekulani is right in Waikiki. I read the reviews on TA, and it's true that the beach in front of the Halekulani is bad, there's construction going on outside the hotel, and the rooms are understated in their design. However, in my opinion the Halekulani is an oasis in the middle of Waikiki -- quiet and relaxing, but you can still walk to lots of shops, restaurants, and attractions. If you're still wary of the Halekulani, look into the Kahala Mandarin Oriental. It's a 10-minute drive from Waikiki (and lots of other things), and still a very nice resort.

If I could afford it I'd take the Halekulani any day over Turtle Bay Resort.

There is nothing wrong with the beach in front of the Halekulani.

Any construction noise is minimal and only during the daytime. You can't hear any construction from the beach side of any of the hotels that are right on the beach in Waikiki.

I have to agree with the above posts. Turtle Bay is beautiful, but if you want to be where the action is, you will have a very long drive. Turtle Bay is fairly close to Haliewa, which is a cute little town for shopping and The Polynesian Cultural Center, which is an absolute sightseeing must.

We rent a house close to this property and with all the new construction,it is not always peaceful.

No matter what you decide, you will have a wonderful time!!!
