Central Texas Wildfires
One of the most picturesque parks in the state, Bastrop State Park, is totally destroyed due to wildfires. Over 1500 homes were lost. The park was known for its majestic stands of "Lost Pines." Over 45 square miles were lost in this historic blaze. We have many fond memories of family picnics and hikes at this lovely park near Austin. The only bright spot is the firefighters valiantly saved the historic stone cabins built by the CCC.
