Central Park Lasker Pool-can you swim?

Hi, i read their website, does anyone know if there is lap swimming or is this more of an open family fun-bring your kids to play kind of pool? I know it opens july 1..I guess I'm wondering if it would be quite silly to find a "swimmer" swimming laps there?

In the winter, Lasker is an ice-skating rink. IIRC, the pool is round, shallow, and filled with neighborhood kids. For lap swimming, try one of the pools at John Jay Park, at the far end of the upper east 70s.

John Jay is also filled with kids. All of the city pools are filled with kids - that's what they;re for. If you want to do any serious lap swimming you need to join a health club with a pool.

I think there are 2 pools at John Jay, including one wtih a diving board and lap lines.
