cell phone rental at jfk?
 

I am visiting NYC in October: and would like to rent a cell phone for local use on arrival at JFK if possible. Does anybody know if there are any companies at the airport offering short-term cell phone rentals?

I don't know whether there is a place at JFK or not but the general consensus is renting a cell phone while here is pretty expensive (true anywhere really). You can either buy a phone card inexpensively and use it from your hotel phone or elsewhere to make calls both locally or long distance OR, buy a prepaid or pay as you go phone that comes with a certain amount of time. You can add onto it if necessary and you then have a phone you can use on future trips. Where are you from? Do you have a cell phone at home? Have you checked to see if it will work here?
