Cedar Point, Sandusky OH

We will be stopping in Sandusky for two nights in July in order to go to Cedar Point for one day. Can anyone recommend a decent hotel, no more than $150/ night that is close to the park? The rooms inside the park seem very expensive. Are they worth it? Anywhere to get discount tickets? Thanks!

The Breakers Express hotel is usually pretty reasonable. It's also a Cedar Point property, so you'll be able to get in a half hour earlier to ride the more popular rides.

I would go to Tripadvisor.com before making any committments to stay outside of the park. There are some hotels, some much better than others.

Breakers express got terrible reviews on Tripadvisor. I'm thinking of the Knights Inn at $126/night with AAA discount. Has anyone stayed there? It's a 1/2 mile from Cedar Point.

I'm not specifically familiar with the Knights Inn but i don't think i'd stay anywhere else but on site at The Breakers or Breakers Express. While not as much an issue as Disney World, its still all about "location location location". We LOVE cedar point and want to be there from the minute it opens until we practically crawl back to crash -- then do it again the next morning!

We stayed on Rt 250 once where there are countless hotels, and got stuck in nasty traffic, among other issues -- never again. The original breakers IS old, but the express is just fine to sleep a few hours and nap.

There's also another resort called Sand Castles that is always full when we want to go, but looks like the best of all options. And it's lakefront, which we personally enjoy. We're headed there later this summer and still hope to get in on a cancellation.
Hope this helps.

We stayed in the park last summer @ the place with the beach and yes, it was costly, it was worth it not to have to deal with the traffic and the parking.
