Cedar Point and King's Island

We are planning a trip to Ohio in July and want to visit both Cedar Point and King's Island. There have probably been many, many posts on here about these, but I would like some fresh information, if possible.

The draw to Cedar Point is the roller-coasters, especially Millenium Force. How are the lines in July, etc.? How many days would you recommend in the park to be able to get the most out of it? Any reasonably-priced (less than $130 a night for me, my wife and daughter) motels within walking distance of the park? And any other info you would deem necessary to submit would be helpful.

Same questions for King's Island down by Cincinnati.

Thanks for any responses.

I haven't been to Cedar Point in awhile, but used to find the crowds not too bad Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I love the Magnum, especially sitting in the front seat. Have fun!

We live about 10 minutes from Kings Island but enjoy Cedar Point more. Better rides there especially if you like roller coasters. There are several hotels at the same exit as KI and they all have shuttles to the park.

If you come in the middle of the week you should only need 2 days to see it all.

I'd just like to make a plug for Warren County and southwestern Ohio. There's lots to do here besides Kings Island like canoeing the Little Miami river, Fort Ancient, Warren County Historical Museum (best Shaker Collection in US), Valley Vineyards winery, Cincinnati Reds game, Newport Aquarium, Cincinnati Art Museum, etc. We're proud of our area!

Hope you have a great trip.

KI the lines can be quite long. get there first thing in the morning. bring your bathing suits because KI has a free water park. 2 days should be plenty

There is a Cedar Point Resort hotel inside the park for about 135.00 per night. It is right on Lake Erie and has a sandy beach and heated outdoor pool. If it's hot, this is nice to walk back to and swim for awhile. Use a search engine and search Sandusky/Cedar Point Hotels. There are plenty of hotels before you cross the causeway, but after you cross, I can't remember, and hotels before you cross are not in walking distance. Be sure to catch a couple of the shows while you're there. I always loved the air conditioned comfort and getting off my feet for awhile and the talent is really good! They even have an IMAX. The shows are free with your admission. You will love Cedar Point! If you want to extend your time, you can take a ferry from Sandusky to the Erie Islands, Put-In-Bay and Kelly's were my favorites, You can rent bikes and go-carts and do the island! Have a great time.

The IMAX screen is closed, don't know if they will reopen it or not. As to lodging. their are tons of hotels on Rt. 250, Sandusky for every budget. A new place that offers family style rooms and an indoor water park is Great Bear Lodge, www.greatbearlodge.com. Definitely go midweek. Cedar Point info: www.cedarpoint.com. I would allow 2 days to see the park and ride all the coasters. There is also a water park there.

Call 1-800-Buckeye for more info or here is the url for Ohio tourism:
www.ohiotourism.com
