Cedar Point

I'm taking my family (4 teenagers) to Cedar Point at the end of July. Can anyone recommend a place to stay, which is relatively close. Is Breakers worth the money? Any comments on Breakers Express? How about the Radisson?

Also, can I find any discount tickets for the park?

I can't help you one the hotel thing - we always do a one day tip to Cedar Point, but discount tickets is another matter. If you have a AAA membership they have discounted tickets as do many towns. Try your city hall if you live anywhere withing driving distance.

The Breakers is an old hotel right on the water, rooms are smallish but the location is great. The Breakers Express is fairly new and on the Causeway. Better to stay close to the park as the traffic getting there is horrendous. As for discount tickets the grocery stores such as Kroger, Giant Eagle and Meijer were selling discount tickets check with them or AAA.

I was in the parking lot of the Breakers Express the other night and it looked nice outside. The Radisson is right on the water, very nice location, but can't say anything about the rooms. There is a nice Fridays next door which I enjoy having drinks at. There are also tons of budget hotels close by in Sandusky.

We stayed at the Breakers and yes it is old, they definatley have not been updated in some time, and small but you can walk out the front and practically be at the park. If you want real convenience I guess you would stay there but personally I would not be a return guest.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if you can access the beach from the Cedar Point amusement park, even if you don't stay at one of the hotels??

The beach is only for hotel guests. Sorry.

I know you've probably already left, and perhaps even returned, but FYI anyone else who might be interested: Breakers Express is an excellent place to stay. clean, comfortable, basic rooms, nice pool, and convenient to CP for the price. You get the early admission to the park if you stay there. Also, the beach is accessible from the park through an entrance in the back. We spent some time out there watching parasailers and we were NOT hotel guests.
Hope you and your kids had a good time, gl. Our son is spending his second summer out there working. He was in ride ops last year and he's in ride photos this year. We'll be going out to pick him up in a coupla weeks.
Also FYI. Cedar point will send you a whole book of discount tickets every year if you call or e-mail and get on their mailing list.

The posts about Breakers being old are only partially true. There's the old main part of the hotel and there's Breakers East and Breakers Tower. Those sections were added in the 1990s, and have large, modern rooms. They cost quite a bit more than the old section, but quality-wise, it's worth it.

When were you last there RK? Because I was there last year and it had been remodeled since I stayed there (in 1992). I think it's a great hotel, and you definitely want to be within walking distance to the park.

Anyone recently stay at the Ramada at 5608 Milan? How were the rooms? Going next week.

Yes, this is an old thread and the CP season is almost over, but I just wanted to add that you can now download CP coupons and print them off www.cedarpoint.com.
