Does anyone have any suggestions for a cool rooftop bar in NYC? we'll be working all day, casually dressed, celebrating a 50th birthday. Thanks!

I can think of many cool rooftop bars in NYC. What part of town? How about the Metropolitan Museum of Art's roof garden, which offers wine & a surprisingly eclectic beer selection?

The Pentop Bar at the Peninsula Hotel...right of 5th avenue near central park.

I liked the Ava at 210 West 55th a couple of years ago. The "garden" part is outdoors.

A lot of the casual rooftop bars are very YOUNG, especially right after work. Gekko's idea of the Met is good one but is only good for a Fri or Sat night. Otherwise it closes at 4:30.

Other options are the roof of the Metro Hotel, the roof of the Shelburne Murray Hill, the Library Hotel and there was mention in Sunday's Times of Local West at 1 Penn Plaza (33 st & 8th ave.)
