Cartoons on Planes

I just got back from a trip to the mainland and the "feature" film on the plane was "IceAge2", a cartoon. I have nothing against cartoons, but since the majority of travelers are adults, shouldn't the movies the airlines choose reflect that? They could at least show a family movie (going to the mainland the movie was "8 Below" which was an enjoyable movie) I know you can't please everyone but cartoons as the feature? Anyone agree?

I could argue the other way, that although the majority of travelers are adults, those most likely to be bored on a plane are children, since adults can read, etc.

Then again, I'm an adult and have always enjoyed cartoon movies aimed at children. I don't mean Saturday morning cartoons, but feature films like Ice Age. I'm not personally a huge fan of Ice Age specifically, but thought Madagascar, Robots, Shrek, Toy Story, etc. were all excellent movies. Lots of humor for adults and kids to enjoy.

I'm actually really baffled as to why you think 8 Below is appropriate and Ice Age isn't. One may be animated, but they both basically target the same agre group, but have many parts that can appeal to adults as well. Why is a movie more adult-appropriate just because it is live-action? Certainly anyone who has seen South Park understands that cartoon doesn't always equal "just for kids"!

The airlines have to show movies that don't offend the old, families, the young, yadda yadda.

That leaves Finding Nemo and whatever lame movie Antonia Bandaras happens to have out at the time.

I have not watched Ice Age 2, but the two Ice Age movies are indeed feature films that adults can enjoy. I certainly do. It's not just a kids' movie.

So, let's move on and complain about other stuff in flying these days.
