Carmel Wine Tasting
We are visiting Carmel soon and wondering if you have to reserve wine tasting and if you recommend a tour.
|
If you're tasting in downtown Carmel, all of the tasting rooms are within walking distance to each other. There are some tour companies (no personal experience) that will take you to Carmel or Salinas Valley if you don't want to drive or Monterey Salinas Transit buses go to Carmel Valley. I don't believe any tasting rooms around here take reservations.

Thankyou. People questioned in a previous forum to try the Fish House for a restaurant. I'm wondering if there is better place that would wow us our first night. Believe it or not this might be my last question. Think we're set!!!!

I haven't eaten at the Fish House in a long time. There are no views from the Fish House although it would be dark by dinner anyway. It's in a sort of light industrial part of Monterey. I really like the Bench at Pebble Beach for views, food and atmosphere.
|
Perhaps you were thinking about Passionfish restaurant? It does have a nice wine list with good prices although it has been several years since I have eaten there.
|
Passionfish in Pacific Grove doesn't have views either but the food is very good.

Monterey's Fish House is kind of divey, and Patty's right, it's not in a scenic location. It was always one of our favorites when we lived there, and I would heartily recommend it, but perhaps not if you're looking to be wowed on your first night. I'd go with Pebble.

Maybe Roy's for the view and pretty good food? I tend to stick with multiple appetizers as they have so many good ones.
