Carmel- Tickle Pink
Has anyone stayed here recently? Last discussed on forum in 2011. We are trying to decide between this one and Hyatt Highlands. I have read reviews that TP is aged and the management's response to reviews was not denying it just saying they were working on it. Then I am concerned with the fact that there are only a number of hotel rooms in the Hyatt vs timeshares. Both are pricey and I would hate to spend the money and not be worth it.

No recent experience other than visiting friends who were staying there. They said they were happy with the room and we didn't notice any obvious signs of decay at the property.
If you're not limited to those two choices, aside from the La Playa I usually recommend going VRBO. Only because virtually everything in Carmel that's oceanfront is also single family/residential. Everything else is just a matter of how far of a walk is required to get to the beach. |
Thanks for your reply fdecarlo. We are not really limited to anything but my husband wants to stay in a "cliffy" area as opposed to Carmel by the Sea, I personally like the Seven Gables Inn in Pacific Grove. Hyatt just informed me that they were in the process of updating all hotel rooms and should be completed by June. Our trip is in mid July.

That sounds like a recipe for ongoing construction during your stay, if their schedule slips.
Ask if they are guaranteeing your wing will be completed. |
The Tickle Pink is in an excellent location.

Love Seven Gables! 2 stays and each were A++ Great location, views, breakfast, evening snacks and afternoon drinks and snacks.

The difference between staying at an ocean view place versus a Monterey Bay view place like the Seven Gables is simple: Once the sun goes down the ocean "view" you have is all black. The Monterey Bay view from Seven Gables has the lights on the other side of the bay. Bay views are much more scenic.
