Carmel's Sand Dabs

Which restaurant in Carmel prepares the best sand dabs. Never had them before.

I have enjoyed the sand dabs at Domenico's & Cafe Fina on the wharf. I'm sure other places serve them also. I believe there was somewhere in Carmel that served a sand dab sandwich which also sounds very yummy!!! ***kim***

I had lovely breaded & fried sand dabs layered into a salad called "the Fisherman's Bowl" at The Fishwife in Asilomar.

kimamom,

Did you know that "Sand Dabs" are actually a type of sole? That said, I'm a huge fan and have enjoyed Sand Dabs at Antoine & Michel's in Carmel (have had them as an appetizer there along with farm-raised abalone) as well as the Monterey Fish House (great locals place not near the water in Monterey).

If you're ever in San Francisco, ask for them at Scoma's--it's all in the preparation.

Bon apetit!

Anton & Michel is very nice! We had lunch there recently by the fountain, outside. I once called Porta Bella in Carmel and inquired about what sand dabs were and they informed me that they were a "bottom-fish", so I assumed it was some sort of sole.

Thanks for the info! ***kim***

The best sand dabs anywhere are served at the Tadich Grill, San Francisco's oldest restaurant.
