Carmel Restaurants

My husband and I are going to be in Carmel next week celebrating our wedding anniversary. We want to go to a romantic restaurant with great food on the night of our anniversary (a Monday). We considered Casanova and Pacific's Edge, but ultimately ruled them out (Casanova because of the menu and PE because it seems a little pointless if we are there after sundown!). Now we are considering Bouchee and Christopher's. Any opinions? Any other recommendations? It's hard to tell what some of these places look like from the websites!

L'escargot in Carmel is romantic and intimate and has wonderful food.

The food was excellent and the prices didn't break the bank.

I really like Christopher's, which was recommended to me by a Carmel local. I don't know if it is considered romantic, it's not in the least bit twee like a lot of Carmel restaurants such as Casanova. It has a nice atmosphere and lovely food.

We had a really nice dinner at Christopher's when my husband had a meeting in Carmel last February. The atmosphere is very nice---as SAB says, not "twee" or cutesy---and the food was terrific.

We had a lovely dinner at Pacific's Edge this past May, food is excellent, we did see the sun set from our table. Bouchee is also a nice choice, have you considered L' Auberge or Marinus at the Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley? Citronelle is also a place that has been getting good reviews. ***kim*** ((f))

I would go with Marinus at the Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley.

Does anyone have an opinion about Anton and Michel in Carmel? I know it was good several years ago but have seen no mention of it anytime recently. Probably a little expensive but am curious about the dining experience.

We had a very nice lunch there once out on the patio, we're considering it for one of our meals when we're back in Carmel soon. ***kim*** ((f))

I would definitely go to Roy's at the Pebble Beach Spanish Bay Resort...get there for a drink and see the bagpiper just before dusk with dinner to follow with outstanding views and outstanding food as well.

Been to Roy's all over the World and have never been disappointed!

If you go to Roy's, try to go around sunset and listen to the bagpiper play. ***kim*** ((f))
