Carmel restaurant for New Year's Eve

We will be in Carmel for New Year's weekend and I'm hoping for suggestions for dinner on New Year's Eve. Right now, we have reservations for Sierra Mar for Saturday night (Jan 1), but we might go for lunch instead since it gets dark so early in January...we won't get much out of the amazing setting at night.

So, where to eat Friday night? I've read good things about Casanova's and Bouchee. We are looking for something fun and lively (for Carmel) with great food and a good wine list.

One last thing...on our last trip to Carmel, we walked by a restaurant whose interior had been modeled after a french bistro. I think the name is La Boheme. Any feedback?

As I recall from the couple of New Year's Eves I have spent in Carmel, it it a slow time of year and not all restaurants are open. I personally like Bouchee and La Boheme is one of my little favorites (I believe it closes down in January because of slow season). Be sure to go to Carmel Beach and watch the fireworks from around Monterey Bay.

I also like La Boheme, about six of us dined there a couple of years ago on a girl's weekend in Carmel.

The dinner was a gift from one of the girl's husband. It was very good and lots of fun! ***kim*** :)

Thank you for the responses. I think we are going to stick with our dinner at Sierra Mar on Saturday (the menu looks so good...we'll just have to get there early to enjoy the views). So, we will go a little more casual on Friday night. Maybe La Boheme (who, if I recall, has a set menu which is reasonable priced) or Casanova.

alg, we enjoyed a very nice lunch at Casanova in September, I'm sure the dinners are very good as well. Have a great time in Carmel! ***kim*** :)
