Carmel/Monterey - moderate, but nice Inns

Looking for a charming inn in this area -- one that isn't too harsh on the wallet. Any suggestions?

What do you consider harsh?? And, when are you going -- now, or this summer(weekend/mid-week)?

There are dozens of them for $200 to $300, which shouldn't be considered too "harsh" for a "charming inn" in such an upscale area. Look at Google or do a search here for specific suggestions. Of course, weekends are more expensive than weekdays most of the year, particularly in Carmel.

I stayed at the Hotel Pacific in Monterey last July and liked it very much. It has a very good continental breakfast, and is within walking distance to the water. The rooms are junior suites with very comfortable beds.

Go to www.pacificgrove.org for a list of all the hotels in this great town. The SEVEN GABLE INN, GREEN GABLE or GOSBY HOUSE are all bed and breakfast Victorians. The first two have views of the Monterey Bay.

Fab, you're not by any chance a veteran or in the guard or reserves, or on active duty, are you? Because staying at DLI is a very cheap option in Monterey, but not an option open to everyone...if you're eligible, I can give you the phone number.
