carmel---Highlands Inn or Tickle Pink Inn?

I'm still hoping for any recent info on these two properties for an upcoming anniversary trip. Please help!

My wife and I stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn last year. She loved it. Although the name is campy, the inn is very nice. The staff was very helpful and the afternoon wine and cheese was very good.

The Highlands Inn is essentially next door and on the same property. It is a much larger than the Tickle Pink Inn. It's a Hyatt not a private local inn.

Realize both hotels are south of Carmel, and are not directly on the beach. Hwy 1 and about 100 feet of property seperates you from the water.

I've been hoping for some posts also. I haven't been to either but am interested in both. I continue returning to the Post Ranch Inn, my favorite place on earth.
But, I do hope someone will give us an update on these two inns.

To bodi -
Keep going to the Post Ranch Inn. To me, that's the best (albeit very expensive) place to stay in the Big Sur/Carmel area.
We tried Highlands Inn a few years ago, and though it's a very nice place, it really wasn't my cup of tea.

Any one else have an opinion out there? I sure would appreciate it!

Thanks Jack! Post Ranch retains my loyalty!
gtrgrl- would you concider Post Ranch Inn? It's not that much farther south, and all the houses are amazing. Have a look at www.webshots.com Search Mrskbg

bodi: Thanks for the advice, but the availability is almost non-existant during out trip causing the cost to be too prohibitive for us. (I tried it after the first round of praise!) I can't access the last website you sent.

Try some of the great places in Pacific Grove....not far from Manterey or Carmel. The GREEN GABEL INN and the SEVEN GABELS INN are both very nice and located on Monterey Bay. Good website to check is www.pacificgrove.org for info on hotels and things to do on the Monterey Peninsula....our home.

Bob: I did try both those properties at the beginning of my search but any water view rooms were gone. We're going over a busy weekend! The only places available with guaranteed ocean views in the area were the Tickle Pink and the Highlands Inn. As we're coming from the mid-west, the water view is paramount! Since you live in Pacific Grove, you must be familiar with these 2 hotels. What are your thoughts on them? Thanks.

Hi gtrgrl, you may all ready know, by ocean view, Highlands/Tickle are both on the inside cliff up above HWY 1.I don't know your price range, but maybe you would prefer staying on the water in Monterey or Pacific Grove and dining at Highlans Inn. Also, its always worth checking rentals.I'd be happy to check for you in a specific price. What do you most want to enjoy in California.

bodi: The cliffs are exactly what we're looking for for a view. Although we live in the mid-west now, we're recently from FLA. and are used to ocean (ie:lots of water) views and wanted someting different. We're interested in drivng down to Big Sur, golfing, wine tasting and relaxing. Thanks again for your input!
