Carlton Arms Hotel

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows of or has heard anything about the Carlton Arms Hotel. Thanks!

The Carlton Arms Hotel is in New York and on East 25th Street. I too am curious as to what the area is like, I'm mainly concerned about how safe the area is - so if anyone has an idea, do tell!

Thanks.

The area is safe. Busy during the day, less so at night. Lots of trendy restaurants recently opened within 3-4 blocks. Also great restaurants/shopping/architecture in Ladies Mile - 17th - 23rd Street. Ditto for Grammercy Park nearby.
Steve is right about the area; I live in the neighborhood. The carlton Arms is something, alrig6ht. Friends stayed there. You probably already know it's got no elevator and is a little funky. And while it's true there are murals everywhere, I don't think anyone can vouch for their quality.... My friends said their room was fine once they moved the lamp near the bed and dimmed the lights so they didn't have to look at the huge, amateurly-drawn naked women with stiletto heels and erect nipples painted on the walls. Just thought you might like to know. The Murray Hill Inn is a comparable place on 30th St. (sans art), where friends have stayed. There they have shared baths (and some rooms w/private baths), and also have cable TVs nnd in-room phones, which the Carlton Arms doesn't, or didn't two years ago.

Hi Carolyn...

I live in New York and stayed at the Carlton Arms while looking for a place to live, and I LOVED it...the art changes every few years, and the rooms are clean but very unusual. I really appreicated how unique this hotel is, how cheap, and how centrally located. The Carlton Arms is a piece of New York history and I would definately put friends there if they didn't all crash at my place. It's young, hip and urban.
Hope this helps!
