Carlsbad - Sept or Oct.

Am planning our 2006 family vacation & have the option of staying at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort in either Sept. or Oct. Would just like opinions on whether this would be a good time for outdoor activities, including swimming in pool. I only have experience with San Francisco in the summer, so I need help!

I think it would be great! I was there last Sept- it was wonderful! I havent stayed at that hotel- just did a walk through- but nice location.
Ocean water was still warm at that time- went boogie boarding-
there is lots of cute places to shop -
including very nice outlet mall.
I'd move there in a heartbeat if I thought I could afford it

Sept will probably have a better chance of being warmer. There is always a slight chance you'll catch a bit of chill in Oct but Sept is usually one of the hotter months (early Sept. anyway).

That is the best time of year. The water is usually very warm (for socal that is). THe best day surfing I ever had was in early Oct at South Carlsbad State Beach. (I have visited Carlsbad every summer since 1961)

thanks for the help everyone (in both of my posts!) Sounds like Sept. would be wonderful. My husband & I have been wanting to go to the San Diego area, and I think there would be plenty to do around there for a 4 1/2 year old!
