I wanted to top this with another "to do". I went to see the Annie Liebowitz exhibit at the Brookly Art Museum this weekend. The exhibit received mixed reviews from critics, but it was very enjoyable.

A lot of famous Vanity Fair photographs were blown up on display (Pregnant Demi Moore, etc.), as well as a lot of family photographs featuring Susan Sontag, their daughters, and the Leibowitz family. The museum is a terrific in general, and it's a really nice part of Brooklyn to walk around.

I saw "Suddenly Last Summer" in previews over the weekend, the one act play by Tennessee Williams starring Blythe Danner and the delicious Carla Gugino.

Excellent.

Extraordinary performances by both Ms. Danner & Ms. Gugino.

And there's not a bad seat in the very small, intimate theater.

Any section. The theater is very small. Back row mezzanine seats are still fine.

The Bronx Zoo is incredible - I hope you're able to work it in. The Central Park Zoo is a nice little place, but nothing like the Bronx. It may take up too much of your time, though. If you do go make sure you see the gorillas. WoW! If you don't have specific neighborhoods you'd like to see in Brooklyn and Queens, you might want to just visit one. I've never lived in Queens, but I've lived in Bklyn my whole life. They are very similar as far as you deciding whether or not you could live in one. All neighborhoods have their own feel, but as far as setup goes they are very much alike. Sidewalks, stores, avenues, schools and parks, traffic and apartment buildings. For the most part, if you could live in one you could live in the other.

The Waldorf-Astoria is BEAUTIFUL! It has one of the prettiest hotel interior that I have ever seen.

You can combine the Waldorf-Astoria with Rockefeller Center/St. Patrick's Cathedral/Saks Fifth Avenue window.

A bit closer to the Waldorf-Astoria is St. Bartholemew's Church. It has a really pretty interior and an interesting history. If you are hungry when you stop by, their cafe is not bad. Here is a link:

If you want to see a wonderful, tiny, specialty shop, go to Tender Buttons. It's in the low 60's, near Lexington Avenue. Even if you don't sew, you can make a blazer or sweater into something grand or incredible or sweet by changing the buttons. They had sterling silver buttons, whimsical buttons for kids, real horn and pearl, etc. I guarantee that you will find something, and can also guarantee that any presents you buy will be unique and very much appreciated.

Why the Guggenheim over MoMA?

Unless there's a specific special exhibit there that you want to see, I'd suggest MoMA over it.

I am not a big fan of Modern Art, I must admit. we have the sfmoma here and I don't really have any desire to visit it.

Well then don't go to the Guggenheim. The building is covered in scaffolding and the exhibitions are generally much more "modern" than MoMA's incredible collection.

SF's MoMA does not compare, by the way, to THE MoMA (but I do enjoy visiting it).

ilovetotravel we will be there in December doing the "visiting the college thing". We love NYC. We have been at least a dozen times. This is our favorite Pizza restaurant down by Central Park South. It's name is Serafina's

I can't wait to have some of there pizza. It's a happening place,always busy. Of course it is an Italian restaurant with seafood,pastas and other dishes. But oh the pizza is oh so good!

Planning my days---loosely:

first day after I arrive--- Museum of Natural History, cupcake cafe, central park and then dinner at les halles!

friday--metropolitan museum of art, window shopping, world trade center memorial, central park, kalustyans, ny public library

saturday-- bronx zoo, brooklyn bridge

sunday--brooklyn bridge, brooklyn, new york public library,empire state bldg, slice of pizza

monday-- rice to riches, ilovepeanut butter, kate's papers,sylvia's for lunch, tenement museum

some days are repeats because I want to go there twice, or I haven't finalized which day I want to see things on

so far I know i want to see the museums on the weekday, and bronx zoo on saturday...everything else is still up in the air
