Car trip in range of NYC
 

I am looking for a car trip for June or August with kids, 11 and 13, within 300 miles of NYC. We have exhausted the nearby locations that I know of, so I am looking for new ideas. Here are the trips we've taken in the past few years: Toronto/Niagara Falls/"lower tier NY", Montreal/Lake Placid/Adirondacks, Smugglers Notch, Nova Scotia, Bar Harbor/Accadia National Park, Boston, Washington, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Dutch Country (Lancaster, PA), Block Island, Montauk Point and eastern Long <BR>Island. Does anyone have any new ideas?

Many years ago, when the kids were about the ages of your children, we took a trip, from NYC, to Ausable Chasm (south of Plattsburg). On that part of the trip you pass through Saratoga Springs and Lake George. Then we took a ferry across Lake Champlain to Vermont and wound up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Annapolis, St. Michaels, other towns on Chesapeake. <BR> <BR>Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Cape. <BR> <BR>Newport, RI, and Watch Hill, RI. <BR> <BR>Northeast Kingdom in Vermont: waaaay north, around Burke and St. Johnsbury.

The Berkshire Mountains in Western Mass.

Nicely redone and modern family resort in POCONOS Pa. such as Brookhaven!

Mohunk Mountain Lodge (? sp) in New Paltz, NY, West Point, Hyde Park, driving up into Vermont - bennington, manchester (golf lessons @ stratton golf school?); would second the vote for Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard

Have you done mystic, stonington, newport? How about Plymouth Plantation, <BR>Mayflower repro, whale watching in Plymouth, maybe up to Salem or ferry to provincetown. The Cape? <BR>The white mts or lake winnapauskie (spelling off) are great; Stratton ski resort & that area is great; have you seen Sturbridge?
