Car Services at Newark?
Hello, my husband's cousin and family is being transferred back to the states from Germany. There car has been shipped, and when they arrive at Newark they need to make their way to the port (sorry, can't remember the name) with a total of 5 people and quite a lot of luggage as they are moving home after years away.
They asked me if I knew a car service they could use, but the one I use is based in Long Island because I fly into LaGuardia and go to Melville (usually). Does anyone have a car service they have used and could recommend? I would then let them know. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |
Just bringing to the top in case this dropped very quickly out of site during Saturday evenings postings, and someone who flies into Newark missed it!

Well it sounds like they will need either a van or 2 vehicles if there are 5 of them and a lot of stuff.
I would go to the Newark airport web site and have a look at the various car services - then call them and get a bid. (And they will want to know exactly where they're going - Port Newark? Elizabeth?). If the car has been there several days it may have been moved - so they need the specifics. |
I's suggest getting a cab to get the car and driving back to the airport and loading there. Be much easier for the family to wait at the airport.

Hello, thanks for both your suggestions. I pretty much thought they would need a van to move them all. I don't remember the name of where it is, but it is 7 miles from the airport.
That's a good suggestion to just have one of them take a cab, pick it up and come back. I feel like smacking my head and going d'oh, it's such an obvious good suggestions. |
Check out limolink. We (and others we know) have used them often in the New York area. Not the cheapest service around (but also not the most expensive), but very capable, reliable, and accommodating. They have vans that can handle 8-9 people with lots of luggage.

It may not be such a great idea unless they like waiting a really long time. And there's no place comfy to do this after you have your luggage.
Picking up an imported car doesn't take 5 minutes (a friend did it once and the process was like an hour and a half). |
I use Dial 7 (212-777-7777) exclusively now which used to be Tel-Aviv.
Used Carmel until they stood me up twice. |
Thank you for all the updates. I will share all this with them.
GoTravel, I've heard of your experience more than once about Carmel, so probably wouldn't recommend them. Thanks NY traveler, regarding the time concern. I think I used Tel Aviv once when I was in Manhattan, didn't know they were now Dial 7. Thanks! |
