Car Rentals / Orlando

Anyone have any suggestions on renting a car at Orlando Int'l.

Recommend any particular vendor with good rates?

Any other helpful tips would be appreciated...

Dear EP:

I had booked way ahead of time at an OK rate. Can't remember the company. Later, a few weeks before our trip, I checked thru Costco. I got a car for about $100 less for the week. Keep checking and also check thru your airlines. Ours was Southwest.

I did a bid through Priceline and got a great rate. It ended up being through Hertz too. Unlike a hotel where I'm a control freak on making sure it's what I what, to me any rental car agency will do as long as I can pick it up at the airport - hence the bid on Priceline. The rate I got was 50% off what Hertz was quoting on their website. So next time I need a rental car at an airport, I'm going to do the same thing.

I frequently find better rates at Enterprise. They are now located at the Terminal. If you have AAA, the discount is meaningful. Be aware that Orlando airport has the highest facility charges (local taxes) of any airport in the country. Whatever your daily or weekly rate quoted by the agency, your total cost can be double. That's the same for all, not special treatment. If you are not a frequent renter, do your homework on insurance. Confirm what your own insurance covers on a rental. You are likely doubling up if you buy all the insurance the rental agency offers. Likely you are exposed to the same deductible just as if on your own car.

Whatever company you chose, be sure to scan this site http://www.carrentalsavers.com/ for coupons and promo codes. Pay particular attention to the Orlando Magicard http://tinyurl.com/ykbg5a9 discount (004M001010) for Thrifty Car Rental which particularly good.

Also check out www.mousesavers.com. I managed a $195 one-week rental for a full-sized from Dollar for a trip over Halloween weekend.

I had good deals with Avis, but now I use towncar service, it's just easier and cheaper once you account for gas, taxes, facility fees, insurance, park fees, etc...

Here is the company I used
www.newwaytours.com

Hope this helps
