Car rentals for under 25?

We're trying to decide where to go on honeymoon next May, 2001, and whether or not we will be able to rent a car will make a big difference in our choice. Does anyone know of any companies that will rent to a 21-22 year old at all (even with an extra fee)? We're specifically thinking of Hawaii or Florida, but any experiences with any companies in the US would be very helpful and welcome.

Thanks so much! If anyone would like to provide any additional advice on favorite spots in Hawaii for two first timers on honeymoon, please feel free to include them :) We're looking for nice, romantic, and relaxing, but not prohibitively expensive...

Thanks!

joanne.

Do a search on expedia.com or travelocity.com for car rental companies and then start making phone calls! Usually it will be posted in their policies section how much extra $$ for under 25 drivers - make sure you read EVERYTHING especially extra day fees and insurance requirements! Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something!

try new car dealers in the area in which you will be in. many have rental depts in their service dept area and rent to ages 21 and up,with no extra fees. you still must have a major credit card.try to pick one close to the airport and they will probabaly pick you up,too. most major car companies(ford,gm,chrysler, etc) have websites where you can search for a dealer in that area. good luck and congratulations!

Alamo and Dollar Rent a Car definitely rent to under 25. They charge $15 a day extra.

If you are a student, sign up for the AT&T student advantage card (www.studentadvantage.com). With it, you get a 15% discount at Dollar, and the under-25 fee is waived. It's a grrreat deal.-Dave

There are definitely places that rent to under 25 year olds in Florida. My ex-boyfriend and I went down there for a week when we were both 20. Prior to the trip, we went to the main library and got a FL phone book, called around, and found a little car rental place that would rent to age 20 and up, and it wasn't too expensive (although they had only 3 cars to choose from - two Neons and one convertible). We had to fly into Orlando, take a taxi to the bus station, take a bus to this little city (the name escapes me), to find this car place, which was situated in a small strip mall. No complaints about the service or the cars OR the cost. Try the phone book and look for non-chain places - they're more likely to rent to you and often cheaper too.
