Car Rental in Orlando

What car rental agencies are on the airport premises in Orlando, FL? I would like the least amount of hassle possible when arriving at the airport. Thanks for any tips.

Hi Rachel,

At least Dollar and Avis have onsite pick up /drop offs connected to the terminal by covered walkway and a couple of others ( National?).

For others you will have to get a shuttle bus to the pickup/drop of points.

Just do not rent from payless. I rented a convertable for a week and they charged me more that was I reserved the car for. It would have been ok had I brought proof of insurance, but out of the dozens times I have rented a car, they were the only ones to ask for proof.

Budget is located right at the airport. VERY handy!

National was on the airport when I rented there last year.

Thanks everyone. It's a big help. I'm plannning a surprise trip for my kids and husband who fortunately never reads this board or would have figured it out by now.

Jesse, you're mad ay Payless because you forgot your proof of insurance? Well, duh! I'd make you pay extra too in case of an accident. That's pretty standard, my friend.

To Jesse:

Hmmm, I rented from Payless last August (in Orlando) and did not have any problems. They provide excellent shuttle service and did not ask me for any insurance proof. And their price of $85/week for a mid-size is unbeatable! :-)

Proof of insurance? In all the years I've rented cars I've never been asked for "proof of insurance". What are you supposed to do, bring your insurance card (yhat most people keep in their glove compartments, not wallets), with you? Is this something new?

Jesse Jan 24th, 2002 02:49 PM

Adam, you must not rent cars. I rent them 4-5 times a year. I have rented from all the agencies and none have ever asked me for proof of insurance. They ask you if you would like insurance but never require you to present them with your insurance card.
I rented from Payless 3-4 years ago(when Miami hosted the Super Bowl) Their policy may have changed do to the fact that people do not travel with their insurance card. It would have been nice if the lady that took my reservation told be to bring it. So duh yourself!
