Car rental in Maui- recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a dealer to go with for renting a car in Maui. We are not picky about the type of car other than it needs racks or some way to transport surfboards. I've heard jeeps are a great way to go, but I figure they will be more pricey? Any suggestions?

We always use Alamo just out of habit with their quick card service. A Jeep would be nice. They usually are more unless it is a low travel season and they will upgrade you.

I'm not sure why, but when we were there in '01 the cars were either a Camero or a Jeep. We were hoping for a Taurus or the like and they looked at us like we had 3 eyes. It was odd.
I think all the major companies are there but you will probably need to call them direct about the racks. I know you're thinking "what? in Hawaii?"
But we had a awful experience.

If you really don't mind the type of car you get try Maui Cruisers. We have rented from them twice. Once for two months, once for two weeks. Paul's cars are older nissans, toyotas, some with manual transmission. He doesn't charge extra if you are between 21 and 25. He is inexpensive and doesn't nickle and dime you on the gas.
