Car rental for Montana/Canada trip

Am looking to rent a car either out of Helena Montana or Calgary for a loop to see Yellowstone, Glacier National Park and the Banff/Lake Louise/Calgary area. Is there a car rental company that allows US to Canada travel without charging an arm and a leg??

When I checked for a Seattle-Vancouver trip, it was twice as much for pickup in one country and dropoff in the other ($450/wk) as for pick up and retrun at the same location ($250).

I suspect you'd find similar rates for Montana-Calgary. Have you tried Orbitz, Travelocity and the like?

I have been looking at different car rental sights but some of them have a stipulation that if you get the car in US and go to Canada it is .15 a mile more, and the same with getting one in Canada and going to US...it is an extra $250 and .15 more for each mile?!?!?!

It is a pain for a business to handle cross-border licensing and tax regulations, so they make the customer pay extra. Point-to-point rentals within one country are often more expensive than return to original location, just not as bad as international.

When you can not find a one-way car rental between Montana and Alberta Canada check out Airport Shuttle Express of Calgary. They offer one way van charters. See:http://airportshuttleexpress.com
