Car Rental Codes
I'm not having much luck with an earlier post, so I thought I'd rename it and maybe get better success.
I haven't rented a car for awhile but I'm finding the same price on expedia as on the individual rental car company's websites. Are there discount codes I could use (and where can I find them) or is it better to contact the company directly at the local number and try to find a better rate? |
Try www.entertainment.com rental car page. They have some coupons for short rentals $15 off 3 days etc. Alamo gave me the best rate for Hawaii, better than priceline.

Here's a strategy I'm going to use later today for a one-week rental. I read about it here on Fodor's. Go to betterbidding.com and use their handy rate comparison checker (this is so cool), then compare the lowest price found at BetterBidding with Hotwire. Go to Priceline and bid about 15% lower than the Hotwire offering.
|
Send an email to [email protected] with your dates, size of car wanted, city etc. They will email you back with the current best rate and update you if it goes down (you'd then have to cancel and re-book).
They send you a short travel survey to fill out but you don't have to fill it out, it's optional. |
Could you post a little more info about clubjefftravel, tracy. Is there a website? Have you used this company with good results?
|
Exactly what Betsy said. On Hotwire you also find out what the taxes and extra charges will be for the city you are renting in. they will be added.
|
Well thanks, Gretchen! Betterbidding research revealed weekly rates in the $230 range all in. Hotwire came in at $159 all in for the same period, and recent PL bids seemed to be running a little higher than Hotwire. These are rates for IAD for selected September dates.
I'd like to know a little more about Jeff before emailing him. |
Up to the top 50. Hoping for more input from Tracy!
|
I have only had one instance of Hotwire bettering PL, but it happens.

Betsy I asked for Sept 12 to 19 and clubjeff came back with national car rental deal for $185 mid size. They don't book, you do it yourself they just tell you where to find the deal.
Hotwire looks like a very good price, but remember, with them or with priceline, you pay for the car in advance and if you don't show up and don't use the car, you still paid for it - no refunds! |
Yes the $185 was taxes/fees included.
|
Thanks, Tracy. I'll try for a quote for my dates.
