car in Alexandria old town?

We are flying into Reagan and staying at a Sheraton in Old Town Alexandria. Will we need a car -we are there for a wedding.

No, there are tons of shops, restaurants to walk to and a metro stop in Old Town. If the wedding is in Alexandria but outside of Old Town, I'd just take a cab.

Actually, the walk from the Sheraton to the "downtown" area isn't too great.

We had our car, and we were glad.

It's about 7 blocks from the Sheraton to King Street. If you just want to stay in the Old Town area up/down King Street, I would say no car as parking would be a hassle vs. walking 7 blocks. ((b))

The walk to the Old Town is maybe a little longer than you might expect, but it's not remotely dangerous or rundown or anything bad. (I'm not sure what wliwl's experience was but wanted to ease your mind if you were concerned.) I say no car. By the time you find parking you'll be 7 blocks away anyway!

I would generally say "no" to the car idea although there are several pay parking options in PARTS of Old Town.
