South Seas Plantation, no doubt about it! Captiva is so tiny that the resort pretty much takes up half the island...we stayed there last year and loved it! The shelling cruise out to Cayo Costa is a must-do...closest I've ever felt to the Caribbean in the USA.

Just got back from Captiva. If you have any specific questions, please let me know. We stayed at a 2 bedroom condo on the beach at South Seas and really liked it. It is extremely quiet in the evening, except to go out to dinner. Even the shops close early. So bring a good book, etc. for the night time.
Also, the sunsets are really nice, but starting in the late afternoon, these little gnats that are completely invisible will bite and bite and bite. You won't realize it until the next day, so I recommend covering up after 4 pm.
We also expected the water to be more blue rather than cloudy green. Although it is the Gulf of Mexico, the water is more ocean-like and not caribbean. But it was 72 degrees, which is pretty warm.
